♥ Application: Soul Campaign
[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: C.A. Cupid
Age: Stated to be 'as old as teenage love', appears roughly 16/17.
Gender: Female
Canon: Monster High
Timeline: Immediately after the events of 'Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love?'
Background: Here!
Personality: Cupid is, pardon the phrasing, an absolute sweetheart. Always willing to lend an ear and offer advice, the elemental is probably one of the most kindhearted beings anyone will ever meet. She's the sort of ghoul who will go out of her way to help someone with a problem if she thinks she can, and will suggest someone who might be able to if she can't. Part of it comes from doing what she does- after all, being a messenger of love is all about helping people, but that's not the only way to do it, and she knows it.
Being the adopted daughter of a God of Love, Cupid has some seriously high expectations for herself when it comes to her abilities in the romance department (and in general)- however, while she is disappointed when she doesn't live up to them, she isn't the type who lets that get her down. Instead she's more the type who will look her mistakes and shortcomings over as carefully as she can and then do her best to work on them... even if she's not entirely sure she can. She doesn't lack confidence in herself because of her shortcomings either- while she realizes she may not be the smartest, the most talented, etcetera, she doesn't agonize over it. She's a very 'que sera, sera' sort of ghoul- she doesn't worry over things she can't change, and chooses instead to focus on the ways she can improve.
Her love of psychology may have a part to do in her way of looking at things- in her diaries, Cupid seems to tend toward over-examining everything internally, but externally, she tends to act and react like someone of her perceived age should. It's not that it's an act though, simply that she's learned to condense her thought processes in a way that she can more easily communicate to her friends and peers. Ironically, despite being a monster whose life is dedicated to love, Cupid isn't all that worried about her own romantic entanglements- or lack thereof. She's confident in the fact that despite the fact that being who she is and doing what she does makes it much harder for her than for most, it's all just a matter of time before she meets the right person. Her faith in true love and the power of romance is more or less unshakeable- to the point where she's actually a little stubborn about it.
While Cupid is all for people handling their romantic issues as they see fit, she tends to prefer that people be subtle with their handling of relationships than being blunt and overt. In her opinion, it's a little artless and unromantic- but hey, if it works, then she'll try not to complain too much. Romance might just be a passing fancy for some, but it's serious business to Cupid, and she usually treats it as such, knowing that relationships take hard work and dedication to keep up. Though despite that, she does seem like she goes out of her way to make it appear as, well, romanticized as possible. Considering that her main focus is teenagers though, she can't be blamed for that- after all, teenagers aren't usually the type to try and gun for things they think are too much work, but darned if she's going to let anyone lose out on love because of that.
Why is your character a good fit for the setting of Soul Campaign, and what will they do once they are in the game?
Cupid is, at heart, a problem-solver, and while granted her problem-solving capabilities mostly lie in interpersonal issues, there's no doubt that she could certainly apply those abilities to issues between partners or people with different views on things. She might not be much of a fighter, but in terms of a character who can certainly dish out the support, Cupid is definitely your
List the abilities your character will still have in Soul Campaign: NONE, since pretty much all of Cupid's abilities are based on ~magic~. Unless a great sense of style and the ability to run in high heels count, in which case, there's still those at least.
List the weaknesses your character will gain (or lose) in Soul Campaign:
Lose- None aside from not... hanging around 'normies' (i.e. humans) on a regular basis.
Gain- Mortality (she'll age at a normal rate as well as be able to die), she won't be able to fly, and she won't be able to gauge the strength of someone's 'power'/abilities.
[ WEAPON ]
Soul Description: Sweet, kind, diplomatic, carefree, considerate, romantic.
Cupid's soul will be more or less as cotton-candy pink as her hair and outfit, her trademark curls framing her 'face' and heart-shaped 'halo' or braided hair settled at its usual jaunty angle atop her head.
(Weapon Form) / Ability:
A golden bow (loosely based on both Eros and Artemis' bows) that fires arrows made of light/energy- the level of resonance between her and a Meister determines how easy she is to aim as well as how powerful her arrows are/how many arrows she can fire at once. At the height of resonance, she'll be able to loose a rain of arrows when she's fired that will always find an enemy mark.

First-Person
Well... at least they're generous about everything, aren't they?
[The voice is accompanied by the steady 'click-click' of heels along the floor- Cupid is obviously making this post as she walks up to her temporary 'home' in this new city. If she sounds a little breathless though, it's more because of excitement than anything.]
I mean, I suppose it's the least they can do, all things considered, but you never really expect to find yourself in a situation like this and actually have people be pleasant about it.
--well, actually, I never expected to find myself in a situation like this at all.
[She laughs a little, seemingly entirely unconcerned with her predicament, and there's the sound of keys jingling, and a door unlocking.]
Whoa- okay, so this isn't... great. Not bad at all but- wow, there is no personality in this place. I'm going to have to do a lot of redecorating... [There's a pause, and the dull thud of a purse being set on a coffee table, and then the 'whumph' of fabric of someone sitting on a sofa.] I guess I'll have plenty of time for all that later though, huh?
[And still, she doesn't sound the least bit displeased.]
In the meantime, I guess I should introduce myself! [Her tone dips a little from cheery to compassionate, and a little more mature- cultured, even.] My name is kind of scary-long, so most of the time I just go by Cupid. And while normally, I stick to monsters, but I think given the situation, I can be a little more flexible-
--so, tell me Death City- what matters to your heart? After all, it's kind of my area of expertise.
Third-Person
"Did anyone get the number of that chariot...?"
Waking up so groggy and disoriented wasn't something she'd ever experienced before- and as she sat up and pressed a hand to her forehead, she decided it was not an experience she really cared to repeat. She swung her legs over the edge of the slab she'd woken up on and hopped down, wobbling momentarily on her heels as she readjusted her balance.
Jumping out of 'bed' in high heels, another first she wasn't entirely eager to repeat.
The gloom of the room wasn't much compared to the catacombs, and her eyes adjusted quickly regardless, showing her the vast emptiness of the room.
--as well as promptly searing her retinas a bit when the screens flickered to life in front of her, the man's image appearing and beginning to relay information to her. Not unused to strange goings on- her relatives were Olympians, after all- this was still a bit much for her to take in, and she wasn't sure how much of it was true until she tried to float up and get a closer look at the screen (she'd been curious, because they looked way more high tech than anything she'd ever seen) and found her wings weren't working. That made her set her attention back on the screen, taking in what she was being told more carefully. When the video was over, she leaned heavily back against the slab she'd woken up on and put hand to her forehead, breathing out a loud sigh.
"...well, it's like that one song goes, I guess: love is a battlefield, or something like that- and it looks like I'm the one who has to navigate the minefield."
She drooped a little, realizing that though she could dress things up as much as she liked, she was still far from home without so much as a spare arrow or two to make her job a little easier when it needed to be. Still, if there was really nothing to be done about it, then feeling sorry for herself wasn't going to get her anywhere. The only thing she could do was try her best and hope that she wouldn't be stuck for too long.
"...I really hope it's a small minefield."
Notes
While Cupid's wings are an 'accessory' of sorts, they're more or less functional when she's wearing them, even if in DC they won't work as such, so it might be worth noting that she emotes with them a little, when she wears them. Also, she has an iCoffin (which is an iPhone equivalent), so would that still work in DC at all? Even as like an ordinary phone?
